Hi guys! I’m working from home now, as I’m sure most of you are too, (a huge thank you to all of the essential workers keeping us going during this time) so what better time to take on a DIY project or refresh a space? I have finally finished my bedroom refresh and I can’t wait to share it with you all!
After finishing my master bathroom renovation, my bedroom started to feel a little stale. I haven’t changed much in this room since moving in, so it was calling to my decor-loving heart.
Rearranging Furniture
To start, I rearranged some furniture, mainly my dressers. Funny story– I actually bought them by mistake on Facebook Marketplace. I thought I was just buying one and found out it was two upon showing up. Lol. I’ve had both dressers side by side for years now. You can see what they looked like in the picture below.
After moving one of the dressers to the other side of the room, I realized my old decor wasn’t going to cut it. I now wanted to redo the existing wall decor above the dresser and find new items to place on top of it. It’s taken me months to find the perfect pieces for this corner, but I’m so happy with the way it turned out. Shout out to my trio: Hobby Lobby, Kirkland’s, and T.J. Maxx. Wondering if they miss not seeing me every weekend…
After moving the dresser, the inspiration just continued to flow. It’s like each day I have an idea for something I want to add or change in this space. The ideas are still flowing and it’s been months since I started. I love when inspiration hits me.
Side Note About the Dressers
When I bought them on Facebook, they were that awesome 90’s orange wood color. I painted them with grey chalk paint, distressed them, and spray painted the gold handles matte black. That was almost three years ago and they are holding up nicely!
New Things
After separating the dressers, I had an empty space on that wall. This was not a problem for me- more like an excuse to shop- and I knew exactly what I wanted. I’m such a sucker for a cute basket! I centered the remaining dresser on this wall and added the basket on one side and the lantern on the other. I also ended up with a cute, new plant for the top of the dresser.
I am loving the way every inch of this room looks. Originally, I wasn’t planning on buying new night stands, but I caved. I really wanted more storage and I found these on Amazon at a great price. I also bought new curtains. The pair I had were solid white, and I wanted sheer curtains to let in more light. I’m telling you, everyday I have new inspiration. One day it’s nightstands, the next it’s new curtains.
Next on the list is changing out the ceiling fan. It has two speeds- basically useless and horrifyingly fast. I would love to get a new one before the summer heat hits Missouri. It’s so nice to enjoy this fresh space, with all my time at home now. I’d love to hear what projects you’re working on, and maybe we can inspire each other! Let me know in the comments below, and thanks so much for reading! 🙂
