January. Probably my least favorite month. The trees are bare, the sky is gloomy, and the magic of Christmas is gone. However, I love the newness it brings. With the tree and ornaments packed away, the house looks decluttered and refreshed. In this post, I’m sharing my winter decor that will hopefully bring a little joy to my home while I wait for the warmth of spring.
Living Room
The empty space where my Christmas tree was makes the room seem so large and open. It feels like a brand new space and I kinda love the new sense of simplicity, so I don’t want to add much to it.
The tray that sits on my coffee table remains the same way I had it for Christmas–very neutral and wintery. To put it together, I picked up a bouquet of frosted greenery from Michaels. I cut it up into smaller, detached sprigs and placed them around this amazing candle (T.J. Maxx has the prettiest candles). I arranged the sprigs in all directions to hide the stems. The greenery came with small pine cones attached, but I added two more large pine cones to fill in the tray a little better. I continued to play with it until it looked like one unified centerpiece. I love the way it turned out.
This wall was really simple. I switched out my everyday wreath with this wintery one that I picked up at T.J. Maxx. I just used string to tie the wreath onto the tobacco basket. Originally, I wanted to hot glue it on. However, I liked the idea of switching out various wreaths throughout the year, so I went with the less permanent option.
Kitchen
Since my kitchen is small, it doesn’t need a lot of decor. I typically add a few seasonal pieces to the corners of my countertop, along with my kitchen table decor. Check out how I designed my winter tablescape here.
I love the soft colors in this corner. The wooden charger is the perfect size so as not to take up too much extra counter space, and the evergreen tree really pops next to all the white. The reindeer is festive enough for Christmas but neutral enough to stay past the holiday. The candle is from last year and I burned it so much that it’s completely gone. I just love how pretty the outside is that I refuse to throw it away ha.
Bathroom
The shelves in my guest bathroom make the perfect space for seasonal decor. I just added some little trees I picked up at Target, a winter candle, and a white ceramic house. There is just something about white houses that says winter to me.
Since my condo is small, the holidays can make it feel cluttered very quickly. It feels so good to have my home clean and tidy again, with touches of winter. Another positive note is that I get to keep my usual decor packed away for a little while longer. Putting the tree away is enough of a task on it’s own. That being said, I might not be as happy in a month or so when I have to pack away my winter decor, but that’s a problem for future me.
